De ce Balcanii

De ce pacienții aleg Cardiology în Balcani

44 JCI hospitals in Turkey

Turkey has more JCI-accredited hospitals than any European country. JCI accreditation means the same patient safety standards as US and UK teaching hospitals.

Rapid access

Cardiac waiting times for elective procedures: UK NHS average 18+ weeks. Balkans: 1–3 weeks. For diagnostics, often the next business day.

Internationally trained teams

Most senior cardiac surgeons in Istanbul and Sofia trained at European or North American institutions. Several are published in peer-reviewed cardiology journals.

Advanced catheterisation labs

All partner hospitals have modern hybrid ORs and cardiac catheterisation labs with real-time imaging, required for complex interventional procedures.

Întrebări frecvente

Cardiology în străinătate — Întrebări frecvente

Is cardiac surgery in Turkey safe?

Turkey has 44 JCI-accredited hospitals — more than Germany or France. BalcanCare only partners with hospitals holding JCI or equivalent certification. Cardiac surgery mortality rates at top Istanbul hospitals are comparable to European benchmarks.

What is a JCI-accredited hospital?

JCI (Joint Commission International) is the global gold standard for hospital accreditation. Hospitals must meet 1,200+ standards covering patient safety, infection control, and clinical outcomes — the same standards applied to US and UK teaching hospitals.

Can I get a second opinion before cardiac surgery?

Yes, and we strongly encourage it. BalcanCare arranges a telemedicine second-opinion consultation with a cardiologist before you travel. For complex cases, send your angiography images and reports in advance for remote review.

Will my European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) cover treatment in Bulgaria or Greece?

EHIC covers emergency and medically necessary treatment in EU states (Bulgaria, Greece) at the same conditions as local citizens. It does not cover elective private procedures. Check with your national health authority for specifics.

How long do I need to stay for cardiac surgery?

Diagnostic procedures: 1–3 days. Stenting/angioplasty: 3–5 days. Open-heart surgery (bypass, valve): 10–14 days in hospital + 7 days recovery before flying. Your cardiologist will confirm clearance for air travel.

What documentation will I receive after treatment?

You receive: full operative report, discharge summary, echocardiogram/angiography images on CD/USB, medication list, and follow-up care instructions — all in English.
